2022-2023

Within the sea of sorrows and vision, I seize my inspiration. I gather, assemble, reproduce, disassemble and reassemble. I use repetition as my playing field. The edge and the skin are very important and so are the transitions between them. Edges are areas of friction, excitement, tension, disintegration and decay. Skin is flexible and emotive, superficial but essential, protective yet vulnerable. The results are a rhythmic combination of materials, a landscape that looks ordered, but is actually chaos.

Bio

Erin Rose Boyle creates sculptures and installations that feature details achieved through her inventive use of uncommon art materials and techniques. She incorporates traditional skills and the act of repetition of recycled materials to assemble serious, yet playful layers. She believes that her best work happens when it involves experimentation and play.

Erin received a MFA in Sculpture from the University of the Arts and a BFA in Sculpture and Fiber Arts from Syracuse University. Currently she works as the Assistant Director of Academic Enrichment Programs and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She has exhibited work locally in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York.
